get Involved with improving the lives of Marginalized children

about us

Mellolee Children’s Fund is a non-profit organisation that empowers the future of tomorrow by igniting a
collaborative force of young people, businesses and brands who aim to bridge social gaps and contribute to quality education and basic needs for underserved children in rural and farm communities.

We create an immersive and interactive experience for
children, all people, brands and where all involved have a positive hand in the future. Using our social media presence, we raise awareness on social issues such as poverty and climate change whilst igniting the old spirit of Ubuntu in the new generation.

Our objective is to establish a synergy between educational access and curbing the daily challenges experienced by marginalized children. Ultimately, our aim is to cultivate capable community members who will, in turn, catalyse positive transformation within their communities in the future.

OUR WORK

The Abantu Babantu Feeding Scheme

In an attempt to address the broader contextual factors affecting the school children we serve, Mellolee strives to create an environment where every child can thrive both academically and personally. This resulted in the birth of theAbantu Babantu feeding scheme.

This vital initiative provides meals for 400 rural children twice a week. We’ve engaged 5 local community members to oversee the cooking and distribution of food across 5 different rural locations. This is only a small beginning to an initiative that will feed thousands of starving children across the country.

Nelson Mandela Day DRive

Youth Day in South Africa honors young heroes who fought for quality education and fair treatment, inspiring future generations to pursue justice and equality. To continue this legacy, Mellolee's “Let’s Clothe Them” winter clothing drive aims to provide over 200kgs of recycled and repurposed clothing to rural school children, helping them survive harsh winters.

By donating gently used clothing items, you support social causes and environmental preservation. This initiative promotes a responsible and compassionate approach to fashion, benefiting both people and the planet. Our goal is to collect 46664kgs of recycled clothing by Mandela Day 2025 to be donated back into the community, ensuring warmth and care for marginalized children.

School Uniform Drive

In April and May 2023, we raised over R34,000 through social media donations, allowing us to purchase 350 brand new school uniform items for 300 learners at Maheelo Primary School. This initiative aimed to alleviate the harsh winter conditions faced by learners who often walked barefoot to school without adequate warm uniforms.

Additionally, we prepared 400 snack packs for the children on the day of the uniform handover to bring smiles to their faces. The drive concluded with the participation of several young professionals who spent time with the students, inspiring them to aspire to excellence through their educational journey.

The BySaidey Matric Dance Drive, founded and led by Kamohelo Skhosana, is a project developed to support academically high-achieving yet financially disadvantaged students, ensuring they can fully participate in the significant milestone of their matric dance. In partnership with Mellolee Children’s Fund, the drive offers these deserving students formal attire, accessories, and other essentials, providing them with the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with pride and dignity.

This initiative is not just about offering an outfit but aims to build self-esteem, recognize the students’ hard work, and inspire them to continue pursuing their goals. By alleviating the financial burden on families, the BySaidey Matric Dance Drive opens the door for young people to fully experience this important moment in their lives.
